(Thank you, Waylon and Willie and the Boys!)Luckenbach, named for a German immigrant to the area, was purchased by satirist and humorist Hondo Crouch back in 1971. He swiftly proclaimed himself mayor of the former Indian trading post, and reintroduced the town’s motto, “Everybody is Somebody in Luckenbach.” Crouch is responsible for celebrations such as the Luckenbach World’s Fair, the first Texas Women Only Chili Cook-Off, Return of the Mud Daubers Celebration, and many No- Talent Contests.There’s not a lot to the actual town.
