On The Cover: Celebrating MomsTBy Caroline Turneyhe celebration of motherhoodcan be traced back to ancientGreek and Roman civilizations when festivals were held to honor goddess figures such as Rhea and Cybele. Later, the early Christian church began to observe “Mothering Sunday” on the fourth Sunday during Lent.Mother’s Day became a national holidayin the United States in May of 1908. Anna Jarvis initiated the celebration in memory of her deceased mother and in honor of all the sacrifices women make on behalf of their children. It is possibly the hardest job a woman can choose. Sleepless nights and immeasurable investments of time, treasure, and talent are poured into each little life. And a momfeels every high and every low that her child experiences throughout their life. This Mother’s Day let’s take a moment to say, “Thank you!” to each selfless woman who is giving of herself to raise healthy, contributing members of society. Motherhood is a beautiful career unto itself, worthy of honor and gratitude.5 Fun Activities to Celebrate Mom This Mother’s DayYBy Paige Wolfou may have already askedyourself, “What can I do for momthis Mother’s Day?” If you want to spend quality time with her and give her an experience rather than a typical Mother’s Day gift, we’ve got you covered!
